Deirdre Finnegan (teaching: THEATRE MOVEMENT FOR ACTORS) has worked in the Philadelphia area as an actor, dancer, singer, director, choreographer and teacher for over 20 years. She has a BFA in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts where she later worked as a choreographer/director (Company, Baby, Working.) She has also directed and/or choreographed at The Arden (James Joyce’s The Dead, Dancing at Lughnasa, Candide, Café Puttanesca) and other events; Theatre Horizon (Honk, The Holiday Show); St Joseph University (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma, Evita, Anything Goes); Hedgerow Theatre (Starting Here, Starting Now); UD Summer Stage, and many schools. Deirdre excels at translating theatrical concepts to young people. She worked for many years teaching dance to children ranging in age from 3- 18 (ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, theater) at PA Academy of Ballet, Media Dance Center and many other studios in the Delaware Valley. As a performer, she is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and has performed at Theatre Horizon, Storybook Musical Theatre, Hedgerow Theatre, Media Theatre and The City Theatre among others. She most recently performed her one woman show “You’d be Surprised” with Mazeppa Productions. She is a professional church soloist and recently joined a rock band. Deirdre is happy to be back working with Zakarak Productions (WOW Awards, Radio City Music Hall). Deirdre lives in Glenside with her husband, Rob and 3 children ages: 4, 9 and 11.
