Samuel (“Sammy”) Antonio Reyes (teaching: BROADWAY HIP-HOP; HIP-HOP THEATRE) has been a Philadelphia artist for over ten years. He is a graduate of the University of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Performing Arts. Samuel was the recipient of the Charlotte Cushman Acting Award and The Theater Ensemble Award. Samuel went on to study dance under the training of Ronen Koresh( Koresh Dance Co.) and Renni Harris (RenniHarrisPuremovment). Samuel has performed at the Prince Music Theater in St Louis Woman and Pal Joey as assistant to Myra Bazell, and was nominated for a 2002 Barrymore Award for best Choreography and Movement in a Musical. Samuel toured with Disney’s radio and television star Raven-Symone from 2004-2006. Samuel continued to collaborate with theater and dance companies including The Luna Theater, Cat Scratch Theater, Le Cabaret Molounge with Jeffery Marsh, Zen One Dance Collective, 11th Hour Theatre Company (nominated for a 2007 Barrymore Award for best Choreographer for Bomb-itty of Errors.) He worked on Reefer Madness at Muhlenberg College where he was an artist in residence from 2006-2008 and collaborated with the department head Karen Dearborn on the Jazz/Hip-Hop work STRIDE, Drexel University Dance Team, LaSalle University’s Urinetown, Media Theatre’s Altar Boyz, Showboat and RENT, and Seacoast Rep’s Gypsy and All Shook Up, and Bomb-itty of Errors for Milwaukee Rep. Samuel has also choreographed for the Garden State Dance Festival from 2003-2008, choreographed for the Walnut Street Theatre Education Department since 2005, and has been an Outreach artist for the Koresh Dance Company since 2003. Samuel has been an adjunct professor at Temple University and Muhlenberg College from 2006-present. Samuel is also Artistic Director of his production team since 2002, SANBROOKA Productions. Sammy has taught and performed for Zakarak Productions over the past 10 years.
