Commercial Audition Workshop
Terry Marsden (teaching: COMMERCIAL AUDITION WORKSHOP) has been in the business in some form since she was 19 years old. In her early career she performed in countless musicals, favorite roles including Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, Angel in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Queenie in Showboat. She continues to sing as a wedding/funeral soloist. She spent 16 years as choreographer in Ridley High School’s award-winning musical theater program. Deciding to take on a new challenge, Terry shifted her focus to on-camera acting in the late 1990s, beginning intensive training at Mike Lemon Casting in Philadelphia, studying film scene/film monologue preparation, voice and speech, commercial acting, and sit-com acting techniques. During that time she was lucky enough to land a few great commercial roles and spend some time on the sets of most of the major films shot in the area. Terry studied improv with Jill Whelan from The Love Boat for six years and currently studies with Sharon Geller in Philly. She has also studied in Philly with Jen Childs in Theater 1812’s Comedy Boot Camp and voiceover techniques with Rob Holt, Neill Hartley, and Ruth Weisberg at Voicebox Studio in Havertown. At Mike Lemon Casting, Terry has taught commercial auditioning workshops for adults, teens, and children, as well as film acting and monologue preparation and intensive week-long summer acting workshops for teens who are serious about pursuing a career in acting. She does private coaching for audition preparation and continues to study and learn, believing that acting is an ever-evolving process of self-discovery.
